Zoological Nutritionist Joins BSM Partners’ Growing Nutrition & Innovation Team

BSM Partners, the largest full-service pet care research, consulting, and strategy-to-shelf product innovation firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Jen Parsons, PhD, Director of Nutrition Services, to its expanding team of experts. In her new role, Parsons will collaborate with clients to spark science-driven breakthroughs that improve the lives of all animals.

“Dr. Parsons’ extensive background in zoological and exotic animal nutrition brings a unique perspective to our team,” said Stephanie Clark, PhD, CVT, PAS, CFS, Dpl. ACAS, VTS (Nutrition), Vice President of Nutrition & Innovation at BSM Partners. “Her expertise in research, formulation, and practical application will be invaluable as we continue guiding clients toward solutions that are not only innovative but also grounded in sound science.”

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Parsons has dedicated her career to bettering the lives of zoo animals through zoological nutrition. After completing her doctoral research on giant panda dietary management at the Memphis Zoo, she spent five years as Associate Nutritionist at the San Diego Zoo before joining the Denver Zoo team as Director of Nutrition, where she spent four years. Since 2018, Parsons has served as Senior Nutritionist for Mazuri Exotic Animal Nutrition, where she oversaw technical support, research and development, and formulation and ingredient strategy.

"I have an intense passion for improving the wellbeing of animals, and supporting those who care for them," Parsons said. "I also love working collaboratively to solve sticky challenges. For all of these reasons, I'm thrilled to join the BSM Partners team, who share the same devotion to this incredibly rewarding work."

Parsons holds a Bachelor of Animal Science from Colorado State University, a Master of Zoology with a focus on Nutritional Ecology at Oklahoma State University, and a PhD in Animal Nutrition from Mississippi State University. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, rooting for the 49ers, and exploring the San Francisco Bay Area. Connect wither her on LinkedIn here.
